NRI posing as PMO official arrested in Gurugram

Gurugram: A Gurugram resident who holds a US passport was arrested by Gurugram police after he impersonated as Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The person has been identified as 53-year-old Atul Kalsi and was residing in DLF Phase-I. Besides Gurugram, he also had a property in Vasant Vihar in south west Delhi.
According to police, he tried to associate himself as a member of Prime Minister Office as he wanted the District administration officials to provide approval to convert his residential property into commercial one.
However, his act was caught after his credential was caught by those working at the Divisional Commissioner's office.
After the arrest, the Divisional Commissioner officer has got in touch with the PMO and updated them of the matter. According to the officials, not only did Atul posed as a senior officer but he also made several senior officers.
The law enforcement officials have now begun investigations into these people.
Further, when he was asked to produce the relevant documents by the stenographers, he tried to intimidate them by abusing them.
The culprit has been charged under various sections of the IPC.
"The main intention of the accused was to change his property category that he had in DLF area. However, we are in the process to ascertain that were there any other intentions by calling himself as a member of PMO," said Sub Inspector Madan Kumar, the investigating officer.
