Notorious punter arrested for trying to steal car he had sold

NEW DELHI: After his wife divorced him on account of their poor economic condition, 26-year-old Amit Kumar chose to resort to a life of crime.
Kumar reportedly wanted to become a satta (gambling) king and earn a lot of money, to impress his ex-wife.
To this extent, he even purchased an Audi Car in 2013.
However, Kumar's spree of crime came to end on Saturday, after he was arrested by South West Delhi Police.
Kumar was nabbed after cops received a tip-off that he would come near DPS School, in Dwarka's Matiala Road.
Sources said that Kumar got married in 2013, but his wife divorced him within a few months because of his poor financial condition.
This pushed him to strive hard and earn a quick buck, and he started getting involved in criminal activities, such as betting and land grabbing.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Sest) Shibesh Singh told reporters that Kumar had once been arrested in 2016 at Bindapur police station in an Arms Act case.
The same year, Kumar was arrested in a land grabbing case, when he sold the grabbed land to another person on forged papers.
After coming out of Jail in July 2017, he revived his criminal activities, with betting being his go-to crime.
"After he incurred heavy losses in betting, he sold the Audi car in 2016, but retained a duplicate key of the car," the DCP told reporters on Sunday.
As he needed a vehicle to revive his criminal activities, Kumar decided to steal the same Audi car using his duplicate key.
He went to the house of the man he had sold the car to and stole it with his duplicate key..
