North MCD's Mayor candidate being probed for corruption allegations
New Delhi: The BJP fielded mayor candidate for North MCD Avtar Singh is under the lens of investigating agency on corruption allegations. In a case, Inspector Investigation of Kashmere Gate police station recommended enquiry by ACB, MCD vigilance or other independent agency against mayoral candidate Singh.
In a letter written by a Delhi Police official last year, it was stated that it is submitted that complainant filed a present complaint against MCD councillor Jathedar Avtar Singh for blackmail tactics and demanding money from the builders and other owners of the properties which have been raised illegally and unauthorisedly or through the sanctioned plan in Kashmere Gate.
"Complainant further alleged that he has deputed various illegal persons to collect the money directly as well as through the Municipal Building Department Officers," revealed the letter.
It is further submitted that Avtar Singh is a local resident of the area of police station Kashmere Gate and sitting councillor of Civil Lines ward and his some of work area is also in the area of police station Kashmere Gate.
At police station level it will be a bit difficult to enquire such complaint. Therefore it is requested to kindly get the enquiry conducted by ACB Delhi, MCD Vigilance or some independent agency.
