North MCD plans to plant one lakh saplings in Aug

With an aim to increase green cover in its area, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD) on Friday announced to plant one lakh saplings between August 15 and 23.
In addition to trees which can provide shade, medicinal plants and shrubs would be planted during the drive.
North MCD Mayor Preety Aggarwal said that medicinal tress such as Arju, Amaltas, neem, aamla etc. and tress like Gulmohar, Peepal, etc would be planted.
She also sought cooperation from councillors, NGOs and RWAs for the drive.
So far, 37,455 saplings have been planted during the special plantation drive being run this monsoon by North MCD.
Aggarwal said that saplings have been planted in various organisations and institutions of the Corporation, such as hospitals, parks and dispensaries.
