North East votes: Confusion among Muslims voters

New Delhi: Whom to vote, Congress candidate Sheila Dikshit or AAP candidate Dilip Pandey? Vote division and the confusion prevailed among the Muslim voters in the North East Constituency of Delhi.

Congress worker Maaruf Saifi said, "Former CM Sheila Dikshit's decision to contest from here is something that people did not expect and feel fortunate that a huge figure like her has chosen the area which resulted the vote drifted towards the Aam Aadmi Party returning to the Congress so that the national party can put up a fight and defeat the BJP."

Shahid Mirza, who owns chemist shop at the main Mustafabad road, said that he supports Aam Aadmi Party because of the work done by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, but feels that since Dikshit is not an ordinary Congress leader, the older generations will take her side and this splitted the vote bank which may benefitted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

He further added that locals have realised that the Dilip Pandey's campaign was strong on ground and has been campaigning and building outreach among locals for almost two years now.

Earlier, he was only the symphathiser of North East voters in Muslim ghettos and has been closely involved in governance of Delhi government, but last time entry of Sheila Dixit has created a rift among the Muslims voters.

Another resident of Mustafabad, Samshad Saifi said that Pandey had not only been campaigning but working for the upliftment of the people by sending girls to schools, undertaking cleaning drives, laying sewer lines and improving the condition of arterial

roads.

A first time voter from Ghonda and a social worker, Riyaz malik said that ever since the congress candidate Dikshit has entered the campaign, the voters have realised that the game is big and Congress will be a better tactical vote.

Meanwhile, star campaigner Priyanka Gandhi's road show may have diverted AAP sympathisers towards the Congress.
