Non-performing cops should be pulled up: Police Chief

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik told districts that SHOs and ACsP should be identified who are not performing as per their charter of duties and exceptions for suitable corrective action.

According to sources, the police chief, during a crime review meeting with the districts DCsP in June, discussed ground level action against the criminals moving with firearms.

Police sources told Millennium Post the police chief directed district DCsP should analyze the crime trends within their respective districts and take corrective measures.

During the meeting, the CP told other officers that beat officers should be tasked to collect criminal intelligence and share information with the SHOs. In case of failure, strict accountability be fixed," sources

said.

Sources further added that Joint CsP Eastern Range, Western Range and Northern Range were told that they should tie up with their counterparts of Haryana and UP and share useful information about the criminals.

The police chief further told officers that district DCsP should call the explanation of SHOs who have consistently failed to maintain surveillance over bad elements in their areas.

Police sources said that in the meeting, CP Delhi expressed his dissatisfaction over the action against the criminals moving with firearms.

The CP expressed his concern over the increase in heinous and non-heinous heads in some of the districts and directed that district DCsP should make all-out efforts to solve the cases registered under important heads of crime.

"Districts DCsP should also make holistic and focussed preventive strategies for better results," the police chief said in the meeting.

He also directed the Special CsP (law and order) and Joint CsP (ranges) to review their preventive strategies as the efforts for the crime detection at their own levels and a distinct improvement should be brought about.

Talking about the cleanliness drive in police stations, CP directed that a fresh cleanliness drive should be started in the police stations in right earnest and district DCP/Addl DCsP of each district should visit the police stations to ensure proper cleanliness.

District DCsP also ensure that the basic facilities are available in the new police stations.
