Noida youth dies after car crashes into tree

A 24-year-old engineering student lost his life late Sunday night here, after he lost control of his speeding car which hit a tree on the central verge of road between Sectors 29 and 30.

The deceased was identified as Shubham, who was a resident of Arun Vihar in Sector 37 and was pursuing engineering from Noida Engineering College, police officials said. The impact of the collision was such that the vehicle was heavily damaged and the victim, who was the lone occupant in the car, died on the spot.

"The incident took place late Sunday night when the red coloured Volkswagen Polo car, in which the deceased was travelling, hit a tree on the central verge of the road between Sector 29 and Sector 30.

"The car was over-speeding and it seemed like the driver lost control over the car. It seems that Shubham was driving over the speed limit during late night, when the street remains quite, and crashed into the tree situated in the middle of the street. No other vehicle was found to be involved and there is a possibility that he was trying to perform some stunt in the broad and near-empty road. The boy was critically injured in the accident and the vehicle was badly damaged," said a police official.

"We somehow managed to rescue him from the car and he was rushed to the District Hospital Noida, where doctors declared him brought dead. The parents were informed after the accident and the body has been sent for the post-mortem" said Ravindra Singh, sub-inspector, Noida Sector 20 police station.

Meanwhile, the tree into which the car crashed has still not been removed as it is considered sacred by some residents in the locality.
