NOIDA to soon use EVs for official purpose; procures first batch of 5

New Delhi: In a step towards promoting cleaner mobility alternatives, the Noida Authority, on Thursday, procured the first batch of five electric cars for official purposes. Officials said that these cars have been provided by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) on rent and will replace the currently being used diesel vehicles.

As per authority officials, the move is aimed to promote the use of electronic vehicles and will contribute towards a cleaner environment. "The authority has taken these cars on lease for six years. This will cost Rs 22, 500 plus GST per month to the authority. The authority has also installed fast charging stations inside the authority premises which have a capacity to charge a car fully in one hour. This is the first batch of EV which we have taken but the authority will hire more electronic vehicles in future also" a senior Noida authority officer said.

The NOIDA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with EESL to install around 100 public charging stations around the city for charging electronic vehicles. "The Noida authority is aimed towards making Noida cleaner, greener and more sustainable. The move will spur electronic vehicle adoption in the city and through electronic vehicles we can save over 4.04 tonnes of CO2 emissions per e- car per year" the officer added.
