Noida, Gr Noida Metro line to open before Apr 2018

NOIDA/GREATER NOIDA: The much awaited 29.7 km Metro corridor from Noida to Greater Noida is likely to become operational ahead the proposed deadline April 2018, officials of Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) has said.
According to NMRC officials, work is in full swing on these lines. Almost all the U-girders are fabricated at the Metro corridor.
Trials will take place in December, while the line is expected to be thrown open to the commuters before April 2018.
The 13th board meeting of NMRC was held at the Corporation's Noida office in Ganga Complex, Sector 29 on Saturday.
The board's chairman Arun Chandra Pandey reviewed the development of project and strictly directed officials that the deadline which has been proposed for the Metro link to become operational should not get missed under any circumstances.
"We have sent a detailed development project report to the central government seeking its financial support in the project. The chairman of the board has assured that the support from the government will be provided at the earliest which will help us to complete the project ahead the proposed deadline," said Alok Tandon, Managing director, NMRC
"Once the metro corridor is operational, the re-routing of city bus service will also be done so that the commuters get an easy last mile connectivity," Tandon added.
Construction at the Noida-Greater Noida metro Aqua line has already created a benchmark for its pace and execution at a low cost.
The work was appreciated by the Limca Book of Records earlier this year. The award certificate was also handed over to Delhi Metro Managing Director Dr Mangu Singh at a felicitation ceremony.
The corridor will be linked with the upcoming Noida City Centre to Sector-62 corridor. A foot over bridge will connect Sector 52 Metro station on the Noida City Centre to Sector-62 corridor with the Sector-71 Metro station on the Noida-Greater Noida corridor.
