NOIDA Electronic City Metro to boost connectivity
New Delhi: Delhi Metro blue line is all set to go deeper inside the Noida with the operation of NOIDA City Centre - NOIDA Electronic City Metro corridor to many adjoining sectors, who are far away to reach country's best hospitals and national capital, will get boost of connectivity with the extension of the metro blue line.
The extension comprise the 6.6km stretch with six stations is completely elevated and expected to cater to 80,000 passengers per day.
The stations are on the central verge and the alignment runs close to NH-24. The last station on the section - Noida Electronic City - is at the Noida-Ghaziabad border, opposite Indirapuram. Therefore, residents of the neighbouring Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh will also get benefitted by this enhanced connectivity.
Moreover, The NOIDA Electronic City (NEC) station has been constructed at a height of about 21 metres, making it one of the highest stations of the Delhi Metro network, said official said.
"The Dwarka Sector 21-Electronic City Blue Line corridor will become metro's second longest after the 59km Majlis Park-Shiv Vihar line," he added.
"Trains will be available at a frequency of 05 minutes and 26 seconds during the peak hours from NOIDA City Centre to NOIDA Electronic City. The total running time between NOIDA City Centre and NOIDA Electronic City will be 12 Minutes and 23 Seconds, the official added.
Furthermore, the extension also feed the commuters to Noida's Aqua line, which has been struggling for ridership because there is no connectivity with Delhi Metro, at
present. In addition to provide smooth transit between the Aqua line ( sector 51) and Sector 52 of blue line extension, Noida authourity is building a walkway of 300 meters to connect both line stations.
The six stations of this section will boost the connectivity for many residential localities in sector 34, 52 and 22 as well as commercial areas in sectors 59, 61, 62 and electronic city as most of the residents will be able to board train from their own neighbourhood to reach different areas of NCR.
"The time and date for the commencement of services on the NOIDA City Centre - NOIDA Electronic City Metro section may undergo a change. The revised time and date shall be intimated tomorrow. Services on the Dilshad Garden - Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) section will tentatively commence from 8 am on 9th March.The final timings for the opening of the sections will be intimated subsequently," said Anuj Dayal, Spokesperson's DMRC.
