Noida: Inspired from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's drive 'Swachhta hi Seva' which is also aimed towards a plastic free country, the Noida Authority will undertake a 'plastic free' drive from September 11 to October 1 and will create awareness among people over the adverse effects of plastic along with clearing the plastic from shops and sectors in Noida. Noida authority Chief Executive Officer Ritu Maheshwari will kick start the drive on September 11.

As per Noida authority officials, the campaign will be carried out by the sanitation staff, officers from public health, Noida authority and residents of respective sectors.

"The authority will engage sanitation staff to pick up polybags, wrappers and plastic materials dumped in any part of city. All the plastic materials will be collected and stored at a dumping ground near sector 43 vegetable market and will be sent to a designated sewerage pumping station in sector 43 for further disposal," a senior Noida authority officer said.

The officer further said that the authority will also create awareness among people across residential sectors and villages of the city to ensure a clean Noida.
