Noida Authority seals Amrapali office tower in Sector 62

NOIDA: Noida Authority on late Thursday night sealed one of the towers at the corporate office of real estate giant Amrapali group located in Sector 62.
Initially, five Noida Authority officials, accompanied by police, had an altercation with security guards deployed outside the building.
However, it did not stop them from locking the five doors of tower number 2 of the main Amrapali building and sealing it. The Authority has cancelled the lease deed of the property and taken its control.
The tower is located on plot no. 39 of Block C-56 and according to the Authority officials the plot was originally allotted in the name Navodaya Property Pvt Ltd, which owes around Rs 9.10 crore to Corporation Bank.
The bank had announced to conduct an online auction for the plot on August 18.
The Authority had earlier issued notices to the bank as well as the company questioning how the bank permitted the auction without consulting the Authority.
After several letters went unanswered, the Authority went ahead with sealing one of the two towers on the plot.
The sealing, however, provided no relief to cheated homebuyers, whose protests entered the seventh day.
"The sealing is of no concern to us. The Authority has to recover its money from the builder, so they sealed this building. We want the government to initiate action against the builder which will benefit homebuyers" said Arvind Mehta, an agitated homebuyer of Amrapali builders.
Amid the Amrapali homebuyers' protest, a similar demonstration by homebuyers of Logix Infrastructure Pvt Limited was staged outside Noida Authority on Friday morning.
