Noida Authority issues notice to Samsung

NOIDA: Noida Authority has issued a notice to Samsung Company, seeking details of the number of local youth who have been employed in the company's new plant at Noida Phase-II.
"Following several complaints, we issued the notice to Samsung. The complaints say that the company is not providing employment to local youth, which is against the rules and guidelines set by Noida Authority for variouis industries.
"We are seeking details from the company. If the industry does not abide by the guidelines, action will be taken against them," said a senior official from the Authority.
As per guidelines issued by Noida Authority, for all the industries around the district, it is mandatory to provide employment to five per cent of local people in the district.
Since hiring is ongoing at Samsung's new plant, the Authority issued notice to the industry seeking details on the number of local youth hired in the company.
"Industries functioning in the city are not providing employment to locals. This is against the Authority's guidelines. We have been raising the issue for the past many years as it is creating unemployment among the local people.
"In spite the presence of a number of top industries in their own district, the youth of Noida are being forced to look for other options. The Authority, for the first time, has taken the matter seriously by issuing notice to an industry," said Vikrant Tongad, a social activist in Noida.
