Noida Authority clears deck for door-to-door waste collection

Noida: Taking initiatives for door-to-door garbage collection from residential, institutional and industrial areas, the Noida Authority on Wednesday fixed the rate of the garbage collection varying from Rs 25 to Rs 10,000 for various areas.

However, the Authority has also instructed that it will not pick up unsegregated waste from residential sectors after June 30.

According to a senior official of the Noida Authority, it had earlier made a fixed point in each sector where the residents used to dispose their garbage and later the Authority used collect it by employing sanitation workers.

"We have launched the segregated door-to-door waste collection project, following the Solid Waste Management Rules of 2016, under which the Authority will hire agencies which will collect garbage from the door step of the residents and charge a certain amount from it," said RK Mishra, CEO, Noida Authority.

Officials further said that the rate is fixed according to the Solid Waste Management Rule of 2016. "All the gated colonies and RWAs have to pay Rs 300, irrespective of their sizes. Restaurant and hotels have to pay between Rs 500-3,000, while educational and healthcare institutions will have to pay between Rs 250-5000," added Mishra.

Industrial units, which includes MSMEs, workshops, service centers, factories, etc will have to pay between Rs 500-10,000, depending on their size. Railway stations, metro and bus stands will have to pay between Rs 2,500-5,000.
