No foul play suspected in Rohingya campfire

New Delhi: Police have so far found no foul play in the fire which took place in Rohingya camp in Kalindi Kunj area of South East Delhi. The police helped the homeless people in providing food and other items.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that during initial probe they have not found any foul play in the case. "We suspect short circuit behind the incident," said the DCP.

Shakir, a resident of the camp stated that they were still living nearby the burn shanties but got help from several people including police. "We want that people should provide us with brick and sand so that we can make our hut again," said Shakir.

After the incident, refreshments, drinking water & tea were served by local police to the Rohingyas. Lunch was also arranged by Jaitpur police. According to the residents, more than 200 persons living in 46 shanties had been affected due to fire. A senior fire official stated that the incident came to light when they received fire calls around 3:30 am on Sunday (April 15) and was brought under control by 6:50 am by nine fire tenders. "One person received minor injuries," said the official.

The eyewitness claimed that they were only left with the clothes which they are wearing other than everything was burnt in the fire.
