No doctor to attend, Ggn woman gives birth in ambulance

Gurugram: The state of pathetic public healthcare system in Gurugram was once again exposed after a woman gave birth in the ambulance of civil hospital. The incident was reported in the wee hours of February 14 when the pregnant woman along with her husband visited the civil hospital for delivery. According to her husband Sunil from 2:00 am when they visited the hospital till 5:00 am there was no doctor who paid attention to her ordeal. After three hours she was referred to Safdarjung hospital where en route to Delhi she delivered a baby in the ambulance.
Following the incident, two doctors have been sent show cause notices by the principal medical officer. This incident follows after the shocking case of a 25-year-old woman giving birth outside OPD after she was denied treatment as she did not have an Aadhar card. After the shocking incident, the senior staff at the hospital not only issued clarification that there will be no Aadhar required for emergency treatment but also announced steps to improve the gynaecology ward.
