'Nipun' training and e-learning portal for cops launched

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police personnel will now be able to undertake online learning courses, while they carry out their duties, thanks to the launch of the new e-learning and training portal 'Nipun' on Wednesday.

Delhi Police Commissioner Amulya Patnaik launched the portal here. Through this initiative, Delhi Police will be able to use advanced technology to imparting in-service training to its personnel.

The portal aims at give online training and information through specialised courses, designed by experts in their respective fields.

With online resource like law, standing orders, investigation checklists, forms for case files, latest High Court and Supreme Court rulings being made available online, it is envisioned that investigating officers (IOs) will be immensely benefitted by enrolling in the portal during their duty.

"The flexibility of taking courses anytime, anywhere will now make it possible for police personnel to upgrade their skills and re-enforce their learning while balancing training time with work time," said Suman Nalwa, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Training).

Many of the courses have been developed in-house, while others have been created in collaboration with institutions like the University Grant Commission, FICCI, NHRC, NCPCR and Janki Devi Memorial College of Delhi University.

Moreover, a website for the Training Division of Delhi Police was launched on Wednesday.

Aimed at facilitating information exchanged between the faculty and trainees at Police Training Institutes of Delhi Police, the website provides training syllabus, study material, sample question papers as well as manuals for aspiring and serving police personnel.

Patnaik applauded the efforts of Training Division in using technology to reach out to a large number of police personnel, which is essential to update and keep up with the changes in law.

The development of infrastructure which will cater to the training of a large batch of 7,000 constables in a very short span of time was also appreciated by him.
