Nine held in Shalimar Bagh for stabbing two youth to death
New Delhi: In a shocking incident that occurred in north west Delhi's Shalimar Bagh on Tuesday, a 23-year-old youth was stabbed to death in a shop by some youth, while another young man who tried to intervene too was attacked with knives and succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Police on Wednesday said that all nine accused were arrested within 24 hours, and investigation revealed that they that the accused were inebriated at the time of the incident
Cops said the incident was reported to PCR on Tuesday evening, immediately after which cops rushed to the spot and took the victims to hospital.
While Tanishka Kwatra (23) was declared brought dead, Pawan (21) was kept in the ICU but soon succumbed.
Within hours, all the nine accused men were arrested, and soon they revealed the motive behind the murder.
Police said that a few days ago, when Tanishka was going on his scooter, he reportedly hit one Nikhil Sharma, which resulted in an altercation between the two.
The scuffle turned ugly when Tanishka called his friends and roughed up Nikhil, but the matter was soon resolved after their parents intervened.
Aslam Khan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West), said, "The incident turned brutal after Nikhil decided to exact revenge on Tanishka.
"He called his friends, rushed to the victim's house and asked Tanishka to come out and sort out the issue. As Tanishka came out, Nikhil and his friends attacked him. Tanishka hid in a shop from the attackers, but they dragged him outside and stabbed him with a knife."
"Meanwhile, Pawan, who was present in the shop, was also stabbed for trying to save Tanishka from the attackers. He was admitted to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early morning on Wednesday," she added.
A case under sections 302, 120B and 34 of the Indian Penal Code has been has been registered at Shalimar Bagh police station against the accused and further investigation is underway.
