Nigerian woman stabs fellow countryman to death

NEW DELHI: A Nigerian woman allegedly stabbed a fellow countryman to death in west Delhi on Saturday afternoon over a personal quarrel.
According to police, the deceased was identified as Izzu, who died after he was stabbed with a kitchen knife by his girlfriend, identified as Uzuma (24).
The deceased used to run a garments business, while the woman owned a food stall near their house in south west Delhi.
Police sources said that the two had previously been living together, but after a quarrel, they started living separately.
Both the persons are natives of Nigeria and come to India in 2014.
Police said that the incident took place at 2 pm on Saturday, when the quarrel on a petty issue turned into a full-blown fight.
Police suspect that the tiff was related to a financial dispute between the couple.
Soon, Uzuma took a kitchen knife and stabbed Izzu in the stomach, after which he fell to the ground.
After some time, when she realized that there is no movement in his body, Uzuma called for help and rushed him to a nearby hospital.
However, doctors declared him brought dead.
Sources also said that after their separation, they had met at a party on Saturday, after which the deceased came to the house of the accused where the incident took place.
"Earlier also, they had a dispute related to money and other petty issues. The two fought violently and also punched and kicked one another," sources said.
Police are awaiting the post-mortem report for further clarity on Izzu's death. They have registered a case of murder against Uzuma.
