Nigerian held for threatening and extorting another Nigerian

Greater Noida: A Nigerian national has been arrested by police for allegedly rioting and threatening another Nigerian in Alestonia Apartment in Surajpur area in Greater Noida. Police officials said that the accused, along with his five other Nigerian friends, barged into victim's house on Wednesday night and tried to extort money from him. They also forced him to join their group or he has to face dire consequences, said police.

According to police, the arrested accused has been identified as Onifransis, a resident of flat number k-1102 in Alestonia apartments. Cops added that the accused and his accomplices were all unemployed.

As per victim, a group of Nigerians living in neighbouring flat barged into his house around 12:05 am on Wednesday and started threatening him.

They forced him to give money and join their group. When the victim denied, they threatened him with dire consequences and fled away.

The victim then complained the matter to association of Nigerian nationals who intervened into the matter and an FIR was lodged.

Millennium Post that he started receiving calls from a few numbers and the accused persons threatened to kill him if he do not join their group and give them money.

"I have been receiving calls from a few unknown numbers by the group of Nigerian nationals who escaped from my house. They are threatening to kill me on phone or they want me to do what they want. I don't have any relation with them or their group and I demand police safety"

said Ehis.

Meanwhile police said that the accused was arrested from his flat on Thursday while his other gang members are on run.

"Victim has accused around six persons in his complaint, following which an FIR under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 386 (extortion), 452 (trespassing) and 507 (criminal intimidation). One accused has been arrested by police while efforts are being made to nab those who are absconding" said Munish Chauhan, Station House officer of Surajpur police station.
