NHM workers strike enters second week

Gurugram: Public health services have been severely affected in Gurugram district as the paramedical staff on Monday announced that they will not relent on their

demand.

Moreover, the workers in order to exert more pressure will now be protesting even in the night.

The move comes even as the state government has taken a stern step and have terminated the services of 600 NHM workers in Gurugram.

Presently, there are only 27 NHM who are responsible for taking care of the services at the government

hospitals.

The strike of the workers has affected the functioning of the ambulance, pediatric, gynaecology and data operating services in the hospitals in the district.

At the city's largest public hospital, the Civil Hospital to OPD services were greatly affected as most of the nurses were on strike.

For the hospital that has already been criticised for not being able to meet the demands of the high number of patients, the strike is proving to be a major challenge for the doctors.

Even though it is not officially confirmed sources indicate that recently a woman and sick child died as they were unable to get the

ambulance.

Taking cognisance of the strike the Chief Minister has highlighted that the strike will soon end.
