NGT directs Delhi Govt to answer Art of Living's claim

New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directed the AAP government, Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Metro to respond to the claim made by the Art of Living foundation that debris on the Yamuna banks existed prior to its three-day cultural extravaganza held last year.

A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar asked them to make submissions in this regard, stating the extent of debris removed by each of these authorities.
"You have filed affidavits before us in Manoj Misra (Yamuna) case stating that debris from the floodplains of Yamuna have been removed. However, they (AoL) are saying something different. You address us on that behalf," the bench said. The observation came after the lawyer for the Art of Living foundation of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar told NGT that the debris already existed on the site before the event.
