35-yr-old shot dead by local criminal in Dabri

A 35-year-old man who worked at Tours and Travels in Chanakyapuri was shot dead by a local criminal in South West Delhi's Dabri area on Saturday. The victim identified as Raju (35) was shot twice in his stomach and attacked with swords after he allegedly picked an argument with the accused, Nawab Khan, outside his house. The accused is on the run, and the police are trying to ascertain his whereabouts.

The incident took place outside the victim's house in Dabri area. According to police, Raju stays with his family comprising of a son and his wife. He worked at Tours and Travels store in Chanakyapuri and was also working as a property dealer in South West Delhi. According to sources, he was also involved in petty crimes such as gambling.

On the day of the incident, Raju was standing outside his house when the accused, Nawab Khan, a local criminal involved in several criminal cases was passing through the area. Raju stopped Nawab and started having a conversation with him over some issue.

But while they were talking the conversation soon took a violent turn, when Nawab got enraged over some issue and started beating him. Later he took out his pistol and shot him twice in the stomach.

Hearing the commotion, his son came out of the house and found his father bleeding profusely. He was rushed to the local hospital where the doctors had declared him brought dead on arrival. "We had received a call from the victim's son, informing us that his father had been shot. When we reached the spot, he was already taken to the local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries," said a senior police official.

On the basis of a complaint registered by the victim's son, a case was registered against the accused. "His son had informed us that he was talking to Nawab Khan. We tried to find out about Nawab from the local police stations, and it was found that he was involved in multiple criminal cases," the official added.

The police are yet to figure out the motive for crime and have not ruled out property dispute angle in the case. "We are questioning his family, friends and colleagues to know more about the case. We are investing the case from all angles," the official added.
