In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old playschool teacher was stabbed multiple times by a jilted lover and his cousin inside her house in Outer Delhi's Najafgarh area on Wednesday.
The accused, Amit had decided to kill her after Annu had spurned his advances. The police have arrested both the accused and in the meantime, Annu is said to be in a serious condition in Safdarjung hospital.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon inside the victim's house in Najafgarh's Dharampura area. Annu stayed with her family in the house with her brother Rohit and three sisters; Veena, Rajni and Anju. Her father works as a security guard in Uttam Nagar, while her mother is a house maid in Vasant Kunj area.
Annu was alone and had been stranded inside her house for the past ten days due to typhoid. The accused, Amit had reportedly contacted her brother, Rohit, who was with the victim and lured him away from the house. "I had got a call from Amit and he told me that he wanted to buy medicines for his father at Rara Mandi. But when I reached the spot, I could not find him," said Rohit.
While Rohit could make sense of what transpired, Amit and his cousin Basant, armed with two thirteen- inch-long knives, stormed into the house. Annu was inside the kitchen while her three-year-old niece, Nishika was playing outside the house.
The duo entered the house and within seconds had inflicted a flurry of stabs. Nishika who heard her aunt's cries for help started shouting for help. Hearing her cries, the neighbours rushed inside the house but the accused had fled the spot and Annu was left bleeding profusely.
The victim was rushed to the hospital and it was found that she was stabbed nine times in her abdomen, head and waist. The police had deputed two teams who scoured Outer Delhi and eventually found the accused and arrested them.
Her grieving parents had no clue that Amit had been pursuing his daughter for the past few months and told Millennium Post: "If I knew that my daughter was going to be attacked in this way, I would have intervened long ago and would have avoided this. My wife told me just now that she had asked Amit to leave their house when he used to visit but I never knew that it would come to this."
When the police had interrogated Amit, it was found that he was married about three months ago in an arranged marriage. But he always had his eyes set on Annu and had befriended Rohit a few months ago and used that to get to Annu. "He told us that he worked in the Civil Defense force. My sister and I also used to work in the same and he told me that he would give me a better job opportunity in the future," said Rohit. Amit continuously tried to win Annu's affection but she spurned his advances and later she found that he was married and refused to meet him which infuriated him after which he decided to kill her. "He bought the knife from Uttam Nagar for Rs 130. He also roped in his cousin for the attack. They have been arrested and have confessed to their crime," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer), Rishi Pal.
