NDMC to embark on massive plantation drive

New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is all set to plant 10 lakh saplings in New Delhi area during the ongoing monsoon season, under its Plantation Drive.
To achieve the target of 48-50 per cent green area in New Delhi, NDMC launched the plantation drive on Saturday from all its 52 NDMC and Navyug Schools.
The announcement was made by NDMC Chairman Naresh Kumar, speaking after planting a sapling of Ashok tree at Navyug Senior Secondary School, Lodhi Colony here.
Saplings of ornamental and herbal plants, shrubs, 30,000 indigenous trees like shisham, peepal, neem, and fruit plants like mangoes and jamun among othersm will be planted during the drive.
On Saturday's, as many as 28,000 NDMC and Navyug school children planted saplings in their school premises and surrounding areas.MPOST
