NDMC signs MoU for exchange of expertise with Belgian city Leuven

NEW DELHI: With an aim to exchange expertise in the fields of Smart Cities, e-Governance Transformation, Culture Tourism, Waste Water and Social Management, Infrastructures, Health, Science, Technology and Urban and Regional planning, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and Leuven city of Belgium on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU comes after an NDMC delegation visited Leuven earlier this year.
NDMC Chairperson Naresh Kumar, after signing the MoU along with Ambassador of Belgium to India Jan Luykx, said the MoU will lead to formation of an annual tourist action plan and would be valid for a period of three years subject to renewal.
"The purpose of the agreement was to establish friendship and cooperation and to create mechanism for its implementation within the framework of their respective jurisdiction, in conformity with the laws and policies of Belgium and India as well as the international agreement inked by the two countries.
"There will be exchanges involving delegations, interaction between institutions and sharing of experiences in the areas of mutual interest," added Kumar.
Under the MoU an annual 'Joint Action Plan' to develop modalities of international collaboration with international cities and regions under remit of the agreement, he informed.
