NDMC hospital's first ever elbow replacement a success

NEW DELHI: New Delhi Municipal Council's (NDMC) Charak Palika Hospital has added a new feather in its cap, by successfully replacing the elbow of a female patient.
65-year-old Hosiliya Devi, from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh was on September 29 operated for an injury on her elbow, which she was unable to move for the last three months.
The operation was carried out by Dr R P Mittal, Orthopedic Surgeon at the hospital. Devi was found to be very osteoporotic, and it was decided to totally replace her elbow.
The patient was operated as planned and total elbow replacement was carried out successfully as full range of motion and stability achieved on the table. Post operation, there were no neurovascular complications and patient is now free from the pain. The elbow replacement was done for the first time at the hospital.
