NDMC announces athletics championship for disabled

New Delhi: New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has decided to institute a Delhi State Level Championship for Divyang Athletes Meet, which would be first of its kind in the capital city.
The declaration to this effect has been made by NDMC Chairperson Naresh Kumar on the occasion of National Sports Day on Tuesday.
Outlining the details of the Athletics Meet, the Chairman said that with the aim to promote the physical and sports activities amongst the Divyang students of Delhi, the NDMC would organise the Athletes Meet on October 11-13 this year at Talkatora Stadium and Ground in New Delhi.
The NDMC has invited the entries of the participants of Divyang (visually impaired and orthopedically handicapped) students in the age group of 11-14 years under junior category and 15-18 under senior category from the schools of Delhi government, all three Municipal Corporations of Delhi, Delhi Cantonment Board, NDMC and aided schools as well, Naresh Kumar added.
Athletics event for both age group (Male / Female) would be organized for 50 meter, 100 meter, 4x100 meter relay race (subject to availability of participants) wheelchair race and long jump, shot-put, javelin and discuss throw. And each athlete might take part only in two events.
