NCB burns 435 kg drugs

NEW DELHI: The Drug Disposal Committee of Narcotics Control Bureau disposed of 435.046 kilograms of seized drugs. The NCB constituted a committee in accordance with the provisions of Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substance Act 1985. The committee scrutinised all the relevant records including disposal order from the courts and collected all cases fit for disposal.
Later, the committee destroyed 24.4 kilograms of heroin, 77 kg ganja, 130.3 kg hashish, 71 kg cocaine, 9 kg ephidrine , 191.5 kg Pseudoephedrine and 2 kg of Methamphetamine along with the samples of these drugs.
"Before the incineration of the seized drugs, no objection certificate from Delhi Pollution control was also obtained. Apex court has already issued directions for timely disposal of seized contraband kept in the malkhana of state and central agencies," said Madho Singh, Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau. The seized drugs from the drug running cartels in Delhi and other parts of the country are kept in the 'malkhanas' and require timely and safe disposal.
The drugs were burnt in the incinerator of Delhi pollution Control board approved centralised Bio-medical waste treatment facility.
