National Auditor points out financial discrepancies

NEW DELHI: Glaring financial discrepancies, irregularities and wasteful expenditure in various departments and undertakings of the Delhi government resulted in losses amounting to thousands of crores of rupees, apex auditor CAG has observed in its reports tabled in the Delhi Assembly on Tuesday. After tabling of CAG reports, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said financial irregularities were pointed out in different departments by the CAG. He also congratulated the CAG team in the Assembly. Sisodia said that the CAG report will be handed over to Assembly panel, The Public Account Committee for further study. Strict action will be taken against the guilty departments. "Exemplary action will be taken against the guilty in each case of corruption or irregularity pointed out by CAG. No one will be spared," tweeted Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. At least 50 cases from the CAG report have been identified to be sent to CBI for inquiry. The study of the report is going on and the number of cases to be sent to CBI may increase. The Chief Minister is himself looking into the report.
