Narrow escape for 50-year-old shot at by masked men in Connaught Place

NEW DELHI: In a sensational shootout reported from central Delhi's Connaught Place on Wednesday morning, two masked men opened fire on a 50-year-old man and escaped after their attempt to snatch his belongings failed.
Delhi Police said that the injured man has been identified as Tasveer Singh, a resident of Rohini, who was shot near PVR Rivoli, located in A block of Connaught Place.
Onlookers immediately rushed Singh to the nearby Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where is condition is reported said to be stable.
Sources said he works as in a money exchange bureau in Connaught Place.
Though police claim there was no money in the bag that the accused tried to snatch from him, they are investigating whether the shootout was thre result of a personal enmity.
CCTV footage of the area around is also being scanned and police are questioning the victim's relatives. However, police are yet to completely rule out the robbery angle.
Sources said that the two assailants attacked Singh as he was walking towards his office.
It is still unclear whether the attackers had done a reccee of the area or had shot the victim in the busy Connaught Place area purely by chance.
