Much awaited Noida-Greater Noida Metro line inaugurated

Noida: In a major infrastructure growth which is aimed to boost transportation in the twin cities Noida and Greater Noida, the much awaited 29.7-km long Noida-Greater Noida metro corridor also known as Aqua Line was inaugurated on Friday by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri, at sector 137 metro station of Noida.

With the inauguration, the commuters can easily reach Delhi from Greater Noida and in expected to be a lifeline for several students who travel to Greater Noida from Delhi and other cities of NCR region.

Speaking on the occasion, Adityanath said that the new Metro corridor will benefit the residents of Noida and Greater Noida and will open several development opportunities in these cities.

"The Noida-Greater Noida metro corridor is aimed to benefit the residents who were only dependent on road transportation to commute nearby cities. We believe that the new metro corridor will prove a milestone in development of the region," said Adityanath.

The minister also congratulated the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) for completing their first metro corridor in record time. Adityanath also said that they are also looking at further expansion of the metro to other area of the city.

"The Noida-Greater Noida metro corridor will directly link Greater Noida with the Delhi Metro Network. We are also putting efforts to complete the work at newly proposed expansion of metro to Knowledge Park-V same as we did at Aqua line in a record time. Once completed, the new metro corridor will benefit lakhs of people living in Greater Noida West," added Adityanath.

As per NMRC officials, the metro corridor can be used by the commuters from January 26. "The metro services will be operational for commercial use on January 26 from 10 am to 5 am only while the full fledged operations will start from January 27," the officer said.

The metro train on the Aqua line metro corridor will cover 21 stations starting from Noida sector 51 to depot station at Greater Noida. The trains will be available from 6 am to 10 pm from Monday to Saturday while on Sunday the services will be available from 8 am to 10 pm. The minimum fare on this track will be Rs 10 while the maximum will be Rs 50. A 10 per cent discount will be given for smart card users on every single journey.
