MP, Puducherry, Nagaland, Manipur Ministers join Happiness Utsav

NEW DELHI: On the penultimate day of the Delhi government's celebration of the first anniversary of the Happiness Curriculum, Education Ministers, officials, academics from around the country and the world spent the day in Delhi government schools. The Education Ministers of Madhya Pradesh –Dr Prabhuram Chaudhary, Puducherry –R Kamalakannan, Nagaland –K Tokugha Sukhalu, Manipur –Thokchom Radheyshyam Singh and the Councillor-in charge for Education for Ladakh Hill Council Konchok Stanzin visited Delhi government schools on Tuesday with Deputy CM Manish Sisodia.

The Happiness Utsav is being celebrated to mark the success of AAP government's flagship programme for emotional and mental well-being of children. "The transformational impact that the classes have had on children and their families was noted by the guests today. During their interaction with children, children revealed how the program was helping them cope with various pressures at school and at home," noted a government statement.

The statement added that Deputy CM Sisodia had personally invited Education Ministers and educationists from around the country and the world to witness Happiness Classes first-hand. "The transformational impact that the classes have had on children and their families was noted by the guests today. During their interaction with children, children revealed how the program was helping them cope with various pressures at school and at home," noted the statement.

Madhya Pradesh Education Minister Dr Prabhuram Chaudhary said after visiting a Happiness class, "Education is something that is beyond politics. The work being done on government schools by Manish Sisodia in Delhi is commendable. When I became the Education Minister, I had found out about the Delhi education reforms. I wanted to come and understand what is happening here and I am happy the Deputy CM personally invited me. Madhya Pradesh's situation is not the same as Delhi, but I think if something good is being done anywhere, we should learn from it."

On Wednesday Happiness Utsav will culminate in a ceremony at the Talkatora Stadium that will bring out the success stories of the program in the presence of the Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
