Moser Baer employees block road to press their demands

Greater Noida: Over a thousand of enraged Moser Baer employees from the company's plant located in Surajpur area of Greater Noida staged a massive protest by blocking Greater Noida-Surajpur main road on Monday morning.

The workers sat on road and blocked the traffic for nearly an hour to press their demands, creating a massive traffic snarl. The employees alleged that the company management has suspended a large number of workers without giving any prior notice and even their dues have not been cleared.

"We have not been paid any wages for the last six months. Two months back, the company suspended hundreds of employees, citing financial crisis. We have been raising our voice since then but our words fell on deaf years. This time, we have decided to intensify the protest as the company's decision has brought us on roads and we are struggling hard to earn for our survival," said one of the protestors.

The employees have been staging protests outside gates of Moser Baer Company for past few months and alleged that there has been no attempt to find a solution to their grievance.

"We are running from pillar to post to make our words heard. The senior officials from company's management are just giving us dates instead of finding a solution for the problem. Some of our colleague workers have died of heart attack following the suspension while some are forced to do odd jobs to earn for their two-time meal," said another protestor.

"We have always maintained very cordial and familiar relations with our associates. We are currently in discussion with them and looking at their concerns. We hope to find the solutions to their problem at the earliest," company's spokesperson said in a statement.

A large number of police personnel immediately reached the spot and managed to clear the road blockage. However, the agitation of the employees continued for around an hour creating a huge traffic snarl from Pari Chowk to Surajpur.
