GURUGRAM: A senior professional working in a multinational company was stabbed to death by unknown people on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as 53-year-old Ramesh Kumar Vij, was an executive director in Nagata India private limited and working as plant head in Manesar.
According to police, the murder occurred after Vij was on his way home from his office around 8 pm on Wednesday.
That day being his daughter's birthday, the victim decided to withdraw some money from an ATM near his house.
As he went towards his Toyota Corolla car, two unknown men grabbed him and dragged him into his car, forcing him to drive a few kilometres away from his Sector-5 home.
After reaching Dhanwapur road in Sector-4, one of the assailants sitting in the rear seat pulled stabbed him multiple times, till he died.
The two accused then threw away the body from the car and drove away.
However, they crashed the car into a divider after a while, and fled after leaving it at Baba Prakashpuri Chowk.
The district police have filed a case of murder and started investigation. Three teams have been formed to solve the case and nab the culprits.
Vijender Singh, SHO of Sector 9-A police station, where the case has been filed, told reporters: "We have registered a case against unknown people. Currently, we are unable to ascertain the reason behind this savage killing. We cannot say whether this was an incident of robbery, as they did not steal the Rs 30,000 found in the victim's purse."
"Even though they drove away with his car, they ultimately abandoned it," Singh told reporters.
The murder of the senior professional comes at a time when a series of murders have been reported from the city in the past few months.
