Minor girl killed and 14 injured in bus accident in Noida

Noida: A private bus en route to New Delhi from Agra met with an accident here in the early hours on Monday resulting in the death of a minor girl and injuries to 14 passengers. Police suspect that the driver may have dozed off behind the wheel and that is what caused the accident.

The incident was reported around 3 am when the bus carrying around 45 people rammed into a divider near the Mahamaya Flyover. Police claimed that the driver of the bus was drowsy and prima facie, this led to the accident. A 10-year-old girl was killed in the incident, while 14 passengers were hospitalised with injuries. Most of the injured, including the driver, were admitted to the district hospital in Noida, while some were rushed to the hospital in Delhi.

Explaining the details, a senior police officer said that the bus was carrying nearly 50 tourists from Maharashtra, Kolkata and Nepal. The accident took place just ahead of the flyover around 2 am. Acting on the information, a police team was dispatched to the scene.

It seems that the driver dozed off behind the wheel and the bus crashed into the divider after which it overturned. Police officials further said that the driver and conductor of the bus are absconding at the moment.

"When the police team first reached the spot, the driver and conductor had already fled. So the case has been registered, said police.
