Minister asks Cooperative dept officials to pull up socks

Taking a dig at the lacklustre progress of work the Cooperative Department, Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam suggested many changes to strengthen the work efficiency and structure of cooperative societies.
Gautam chaired a high-level meeting with the chairpersons of cooperative banks and societies to discuss restructuring of the current work process. "The department has lots of challenges and we have to overcome them," Gautam said.
In the meeting with the cooperative banks, officials explained him the banking system and the beneficiaries of these banks. They also discussed various problems regarding these banks.
He assured the officers that every problem will be answered. Any issue, whether regarding any employee and any member of the department, will be dealt with, the Minister said.
He also asked officers whether they face any problems which affect their work efficiency. "For efficient work, we have to work like a team, where every single member is important," Gautam said, telling the officers that "we are a family now."
Since taking charge as Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Gautam has visited the office many times and discussed various issues with the employees. He also asked officers to make a presentation regarding the work process of the societies. Several issues, such as shortage of staff, have been discussed.
The Minister has directed officials to submit day-to-day reports to him about progress of work, which can also be submitted on a weekly basis.
Gautam asked the officers to deal with their own department first and to not to interfere in the work of other departments. According to Gautam, work distribution is a very important factor for the department.
Earlier, Gautam directed the cooperative societies to form an audit wing. He also directed that every file submitted to the Department should be cleared on a priority basis.
