Meerut-based arms supplier arrested at Nizamuddin

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Police has arrested an arms supplier identified as Kasif alias Nisar. The accused who is 19 years old is a resident of District Meerut, UP and is under police custody as one sophisticated country-made pistol and 18 live cartridges were recovered from him.

On January 21, a criminal named Sagar, a member of Sunder Bhati Gang was arrested for shooting a transgender near Barapulla Flyover. On interrogation, he disclosed that he had purchased the weapon used in the crime from a teen named Kasif and he can help the officials in his arrest. He was, therefore, taken into two days police custody remand.

A police team conducted raids at Meerut to trace the accused. Trap was also laid in the village of the accused but unfortunately it was reported that the accused had left his village. Further, on the basis of information gathered, it revealed that accused had gone to Nizamuddin bus terminal, Delhi to supply arms to some client. Following this, the police team immediately returned to Delhi and on January 23, laid a trap near the bus terminal and arrested him.

"During sustained interrogation accused Kashif disclosed that he is studying in class 12th in Meerut. He recently came in contact with Sadan alias Pistol who had lured Kashif to indulge in the business of arms supply. In order to earn quick money, he agreed to supply arms. Accused further disclosed that he used to procure pistol ranging between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000 from Sadan and sell it at Rs. 40,000 to 50,000," said DCP South East, Chinmoy Biswal.
