Mechanic who stole cars as per customers' requirement held

New Delhi: In 2016, Rizwan opened a mechanic shop and vehicles were coming for repair with defects in some parts but he was not able to find certain parts of the vehicles. To meet the demand of customers, he started stealing vehicles in order to use their parts in other vehicles while repairing. Meanwhile, he also befriended with Sahil, a scrap dealer to sell the remaining parts of the vehicle but their illegal activity came to an end on March 17 as both were arrested from Dwarka and Outer district.
Both the accused are the residents of Outer district and Rizwan was arrested when they had stolen a car near Dayanand Apartment Sector-6. After a chase, the patrolling team nabbed them near Madhu Vihar red light. One of his associates fled the spot. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh stated that the team members interrogated the accused Sahil who disclosed the identity of his associate as Rizwan. Thereafter, team swung into action and raided his address in Alipur and he was arrested. "Accused Sahil is a scrap dealer at Narela, Delhi. He is a permanent resident of Samalka, Sonipat, Haryana while Rizwan is a car mechanic and he is a permanent resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh," said the DCP.
He further claimed that they were previously involved in four cases of motor vehicle thefts from different police stations of Delhi. On interrogation, they disclosed that they steal cars using a Master Key and after stealing the vehicle, they used the parts in other vehicles while repairing and rest of the car, they sell as scrap.
Police further claimed that the accused used to target the small cars as most of the vehicles who came for repair were small and they targeted different parts of Delhi. The team led by Inspector Ashok Kumar, SHO/Dwarka South and formed under the guidance of Rajender Singh, ACP/Dwarka made the arrest.
