MBA graduate held for mowing down 53-year-old head constable

New Delhi: Delhi police has arrested an MBA graduate working with Harley Davidson in Delhi for mowing down a Delhi Police head constable by his speeding sedan car while the policeman was performing his picket duty at the underpass picket on the Kapasehra Dwarka carriageway on Monday night.

Police said that at about 1 am, an unknown sedan car coming from underpass side was signalled to stop but errant driver smashed the barricades which falls on the standing HC Guljari caused neck injuries. The driver along with his car fled away from the spot.

The injured was taken to Venkteshwar hospital wherein doctors declared him brought dead. 53-year-old Guljari Lal was a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi and his hometown was Rajasthan.

Senior officers rushed to the spot and his body was sent for postmortem. After postmortem, the body was escorted to the native place Kothputli, Alwar. Since, he has sacrificed his life in the line of duty thus a "Guard of Honour" was given at the time of last rites which was attended by many senior police officers.

A case under section 279 and 304 was resgistered and search for the damaged car began. Around noon, a specific input was received from a car repair shop mechanic in Pochanpur village that a Baleno car is parked near a shop in damaged condition. The police team rushed to the spot and verified the car and rounded up its owner from his rented premises in Pochanpur. "When he took out his vehicle for repair to the repair shop, police already in the area, nabbed him and recovered his Baleno car with which he had committed the accident in the early morning," said a senior police officer. He has been working in account section at Harley Davidson showroom at Mayapuri and has done his MBA from a University in Saharanpur, UP.
