Mayawati to hold rally in Delhi on May 10
New Delhi: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati will hold a rally at the Ramlila Maidan near GTB hospital in North East Delhi on May 10, party's candidate from the area Rajveer Singh said on Friday. Singh, a marble trader from Rajouri Garden, said that the party has asked him to take up an active role in the city's politics for the next 15 years.
The BSP got a vote share of about 5 per cent in 2009, which dropped to about 2 percent in 2014. Despite this, Singh claimed that the party is getting a resounding response from the ground with locals calling upon him to attend their public meetings. "We will stop the BJP and the votes will come to us," he said.
Responding to the suggestion that the BSP's presence would cut into the votes of AAP, he said AAP has no presence in the area, "they haven't done anything to help people" Singh added. While the BSP filed nominations for all seven Lok Sabha seats here, it will only be fighting five seats as affidavits of its contestants for North West Delhi seat which is a reserved constituency, and in the New Delhi constituency were rejected.
