Max Hospital case: Docs quizzed by cops blame each other

New Delhi: High drama was witnessed at the office of Crime Branch of Delhi Police during questioning of two doctors of Max Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, in connection with the case of delivery of twin babies, one of whom was wrongly declared dead by the hospital.
A highly police source said while questioning three doctors on Friday, two of them started blaming each other on the negligence of the incident and also tried to pass the buck on hospital staff, who had given the baby to the family after packing the babies.
"The procedure was not followed properly… if the doctors had re-checked the baby there were chances that the incident did not happen," police sources told Millennium Post.
The three doctors who were questioned included two doctors who were already sacked by Max hospital.
One of the sacked doctors claimed that after the baby stopped breathing he had contacted another doctor who gave no response.
Another doctor claimed that it was the negligence of other doctor and hospital staff in the case.
The third doctor claimed that on the day of the incident the baby was alive till 10 am and later the two doctors told him about his death around 12.30 pm.
The probe is being monitored by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Joy Tirkey and the team led by ACP Shweta Chauhan and Inspector Abhinendra Jain have visited the hospital several times to make sure that they should not leave any stone unturned during the investigation.
Sources claimed that in the hospital police team has questioned the hospital staffs about the incident and the staff claimed that they have got ordered by doctors after which they packed the babies and handed over to the family members.
The team has also questioned the doctors of another hospital from where the babies' mother was taking treatment before coming to Max Hospital.
