Mastermind of gas godown dacoity in Mayur Vihar held

NEW DELHI: Delhi police has arrested the mastermind of the armed dacoity in Mayur Vihar in which a gas godown was robbed by six armed criminals. The accused Rahul, a resdent of Bulandshahar, UP has been nabbed from Khichripur in East Delhi.

On July 24 at about 3 pm, six persons having illegal weapon in their hand barged into a gas godown situated in Trilok Puri, New Delhi and robbed people present there of Rs 1.10 lakh . While committing crime, the accused persons also fired two shots in the air to scare the public present in and outside the gas godown.

During the course of investigation, it was learnt that there were six persons who had fled from the spot on two motorcycles. The team had earlier arrested four accused and it came to know that Rahul alias Pandit was the mastermind who had hatched the conspiracy.

"During the course of interrogation, he disclosed that he came out of jail in January 2019 and shifted to Delhi where he formed a new gang. He once visited a gas gowdown in Trilokpuri, Mayur Vihar, New Delhi and got his gas cylinder exchanged where he observed a number of people collecting cash. He then formed a new gang with the people whom he met in Hapur Jail. He passed this information to them and hatched a plan to commit this robbery," said Jasmeet Singh, DCP East.
