Manipuri man jumps into Hauz Khas Lake, drowns
NEW DELHI: A Manipuri youth died after drowning in Hauz Khas Lake in south Delhi after he came with his two friends for jogging on Monday morning.
According to police, the deceased, identified as Horthan, jumped into the lake for a dip after taking his shirt off but could not manage to come back. Horthan came to Delhi from Manipur looking for job in July this year.
His two friends immediately informed the cops saying the 21-year-old drowned in the lake.
Soon, teams from nearest police station of Safdarjung Enclave along with CATS ambulance rushed to the spot. The body was recovered at round 9 am and rushed to the hospital but the boy could not be saved.
Additional DCP South Chinmoy Biswal said that the friends of the boy has told police that Horthan left behind his friends in pace and suddenly jumped into the lake. When the boys reached there, he was already drowning. The boys immediately called police for help.
The cops are recording the statements of the eyewitness and talking to the deceased boy's family.
