Manhandling of motorist: Traffic police starts inquiry

NEW DELHI: After taking congnisance of the incident, Delhi Traffic Police on Thursday initiated an inquiry into the alleged manhandling of a motorist by two traffic cops in Ranjit Nagar, which took place on Wednesday.
A viral video clip showed the two cops dragging the man along the ground, as he pleads for help in central Delhi's Ranjit Nagar.
The incident was filmed on mobile by a bystander in the crowd.
Though the exact reason for the provocation is not yet known, the cops were seen slapping and chasing the man, who was accompanied by a woman. The woman was also seen trying to slap the cops.
The man fell down at some distance, after being chased by the traffic cops, and was then dragged by his trousers.
As bystanders watch the whole episode, some filmed the incident and posted it on social media.
"The altercation started after the traffic cops tried to check the documents of the couple on the scooty. Later it took an ugly turn." said a senior police officer.
He added that Head Constable Rajender gave a PCR call about the incident.
No FIR has been registered in the case so far.
