Man who turned to burglary to impress bride-to-be held

New Delhi: A dog bite led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man, who started committing burglaries to impress his bride-to-be on the first day of marriage.
Delhi Police, on Monday, said that they arrested the accused Akash on March 31 from west Delhi's Uttam Nagar.
Police said that Akash, a resident of the same area, had recently committed burglaries, in which he had stolen eight women's gold rings, seven men's gold rings, two mangalsutras among other articles.
"The police team checked footage of more than 25 CCTV cameras and got a clear footage from a camera installed at a shop, which gave a fair idea of the description of the accused. In this footage, some street dogs were seen barking at the culprit and one street dog was seen biting his leg," said DCP (Dwarka) Shibesh Singh.
The DCP further said that a police team checked all nearby private and government hospitals, where the accused could have gone to seek treatment for the dog bite.
An investigator claimed that one of their local informers told them about a suspicious person sustaining a dog bite and, eventually, the police team found that he was accused of the burglary.
Later, Akash was arrested, by a team led by Sub-Inspector Naveen Kumar.
Police further claimed that the accused had recently come in contact with anti-social elements, which led him to become a drug addict soon.
He used the stolen jewelry and other items for his drug addiction and the remaining jewellery was being stashed by him for his marriage, as he was planning to get married soon.
