Man who threatened to leak intimate photos finally gets bail

New Delhi: A Delhi court granted bail to a man, who allegedly threatened to release intimate photographs of a woman he was in a relationship with, after the police completed its investigation in the case and also filed a chargesheet against the accused. The couple started having troubles after the victim found out that the accused was married to another woman during the time they were together. Earlier this year, the complainant allegedly received emails from the accused, Vikas Sharma, that had her intimate photographs in it. The vicitm said that Sharma was demanding Rs 10 lakh or sexual favours in exchange for not releasing the photographs.

The accused, Vikas Sharma runs a computer shop in Dwarka and according to the complainant, their relationship started seeing trouble after the victim found out about Sharma's marriage. During the course of their relationship, Sharma had taken some intimate photographs and videos of the complainant, according to the FIR. Moreover, the victim had started a food website of her own, her only source of income, which she alleged that Sharma had blocked her from operating, till he got the money or sexual favours.

But arguing for Sharma, defence counsel Rishipal Singh said that the money (Rs 10 lakh) was in fact given by the accused to the victim to complete her studies in Shimla. Interestingly, police investigations have revealed that the emails containing intimate photographs were in fact sent from Sharma's email id. The court, however said that Sharma's continued custody serves no purpose given that police had completed investigation and filed a chargesheet and granted bail at a Rs 20,000 bond.
