Man who sold stolen luxury cars online arrested

New Delhi :Delhi Police on Thursday said that they have arrested a cheater who fraudulently sold more than dozen of cars through the retail website. Police identified the accused as Ankit Pruthi. According to police on July 8, the complainant of the case Ravi Saxena stated that he saw an advertisement related to the sale of one car at a very nominal price, to which he responded and purchased the said car in Rs. 1,70,000 from the accused. Pruthi provided the complainant with photocopies of RC and insurance and assured him to deliver the original after the transfer of the registration in the name of the complainant.

"But despite repeated requests from the complainant, Pruthi did not provide him with the original documents," police said. On enquiry from the transport authority, the complainant came to know that the said car registration number belonged to another car. After knowing the facts, the complainant requested Ankit Pruthi to return his money and take the car back but Ankit tried to convince the complainant for few more months and later he switched off his phone.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Jasmeet Singh said that they arrested the accused on September 14 from Jaipur (Rajasthan).

During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused Ankit was selling various brands of luxury cars, using retail website platform since 2014. He had sold more than a dozen luxury cars, using the retail website.

The accused completed graduation from open College. But due to his habit of betting, he started taking loans from his neighbours and relatives and was burdened under heavy debts
