Man threatened cab driver for not giving side, arrested

New Delhi: A 41-year-old man who threatened the cab driver with the pistol for not giving sides was arrested in southeast Delhi's Amar Colony area.

Police identified the accused as Rajan Bharar, a former MCD Councilor candidate. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal stated that on January 31 at about 3 am, a PCR call regarding an incident of quarrel and threatening with a cab driver of Hyundai i10 car was received at Amar Colony police station.

"The alleged i10 car was seen in the area of Amar Colony and on seeing the police team, alleged driver tried to flee and he sped up his car. After a hot chase, police team finally intercepted the car and nabbed the accused," said DCP Biswal.

Police claimed that during the investigation, statement of caller/complainant Salman was recorded, who stated that he drives a UBER cab and at about 2:45 am he was waiting for the passenger. In the meantime, the accused driver came in his car and they both had a quarrel on giving side. The accused driver pulled out a pistol and broke the window of the cab and fled in his car.

During interrogation, accused Rajan Bharara stated that he is a property dealer by profession and on the night of the incident he came to attend a birthday party at a restaurant in East of Kailash. After the party, he came to Amar Colony to drop his friend and while he was returning, after dropping his friend, an altercation took place between accused and the Uber driver.

Accused was in the possession of an automatic pistol and he threatened the cab driver and broke the window of his cab.
