Man thrashed on suspicion of being thief, dies
New Delhi: A person died after he was beaten up on suspicion of being a thief in Prem Nagar area of Rohini district. Police said that at about 7 PM on June 15 a call was received that one thief has been caught near 40 feet road Main Mubarak Pur Road in Prem Nagar IInd.
According to police, a PCR van reported that when reached spot found one 23-year-old unconscious person lying on the ground who had injuries on his body. "We took the injured and the caller Amit to Sanjay Gandhi hospital hospital, where the unknown unconscious person was declared dead," police said.
The investigating agency further added that the caller Amit disclosed that last month a mobile and DVR of CCTV was stolen from his shop. He has footage of thief in his mobile downloaded from DVR. "On June 15 this man with one more person came to his shop again and started peeping in the shop. He (Amit) recognised him. When tried to catch him both ran away. He with his neighbours chased and caught them & beat them," police further said.
Police claimed that soon they were joined by many public men who also beat them. They brought them to his shop where one of the thieves managed his escape. "He detained this person hoping someone of his family would come & he would exchange him with money in lieu of stolen articles. He called PCR when found thief was sinking. On the basis of MLC, Scene of occurrence and facts a case under sections 304/34 IPC registered, "police said.
In another case, a man has alleged that he was attacked with a beer bottle in Malviya Nagar area on June 6. The incident took place when the complainant was parking his car on a particular location when the suspects came in the car and started pressing the horn.
